Hey Guys!  You may have noticed my lack of activity over the last year.  Life has been busy and I don't spend as much time on the internet as I used to.  Deviantart has been a great place to show off my art and cosplay as well as check out the talents of other artists around the world.  It will always hold a place in my heart, as will all of you who have followed me all of these years.  But I do not commit enough of my time to this website anymore, so I want to officially announce that I will be on hiatus until further notice. There's always a possibility that I will return in the future but for now I think this is goodbye.

HOWEVER (now don't cry just yet), this does not mean that I'm no longer posting anything anywhere on the face of the internet.  I have a Facebook page that I update much more frequently, and I would love it if you would be willing to continue keeping track of my cosplay adventures here:  www.facebook.com/pages/Ex-Shad…

I know not everyone uses Facebook, but most people do, and hopefully for all of you who still follow me you won't mind following my Facebook page as you have here.  But regardless of whether you like my page or not, I want to give my thanks to all of you from the bottom of my heart.  I've grown a lot as an artist and as as person since I first joined this community, and the support that you all have shown will never be forgotten.  I wish all of you Deviantartists the best and I hope to hear from you on my Facebook Page.

Upcoming Conventions



Here's my con list for the next few months.

Anime Central, May 17-19, Chicago Illinois-  This one's just around the corner and I'm excited for it!  I'll be working at the Arda booth in the Dealers room Saturday, and possibly a bit here and there Friday or Sunday.  Be sure to stop by and say hi!  The rest of the con I'll be with friends and just browsing mostly.  Again, if you see me feel free to say hi, I'm friendly I promise :D

Colossalcon, June 6-9, Sandusky Ohio-  This is actually more of a planned vacation at the resort where the convention is held.  I won't actually be attending the con but I'll be in the area, so if you happen to see me then say hi!!

Cosplacon, June 27-30, Jefferson City Missouri-  This one is a big deal for me, because it has been founded by my close friends back home.  Malinda and I will be hosting panels and judging the cosplay contests there.  If you are able to go you should definitely do so, this will be a fun convention for all who attend!  

Dragoncon, August 30-September 2, Atlanta Georgia-  I'm very exited for this one.  I have heard about this con for years now, and never once has anyone said anything negative about it.  Add that to the volume of cosplayers that go there to show off their best, and even a cosplay parade to boot?  Yea, I'm pretty pumped for this one.  Once again, if you go to this one and see me there, say hi!!




Other news


Life's been good lately.  I've started work on a new costume.  I got addicted to Bioshock not long ago and decided to make an Alpha Series Big Daddy.   Click here to see progress photos, and be sure to like my page if you haven't already!  I plan to have it finished in time for Cosplacon at the end of June, and will also be bringing it to Dragoncon.

Katsucon 2013 and updates

Katsucon 2013


Katsucon was a lot of fun!  I debuted my two newest costumes, New world Zoro from One Piece and Berserker Armor Guts from Berserk.  I got plenty of awesome pictures of each and should be uploading them over the next couple of weeks.  I got to see lots of friends as well as make a few new ones.  And I also helped out at the Arda booth on Friday and Sunday, so it was quite a productive and fun weekend!  Thanks to everyone who helped to make this a fun con :)

Other news


I'll be rearranging my costume plans for the year.  While I have completed the majority of Guts I still have some remaining work to do on it, and should have it completed within the next month.  I will also be making a new Buster Sword for my Zack cosplay this month.  Once those two are finished I will jump onto the Skyrim Daedric armor project and then I will be working on Megatron later in the fall.  Other costumes may add to the list but at the moment thats all I want to tackle.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to mention that lately I've been keeping track of my facebook page a lot more than my deviantart.  I've decided to post any progress photos on there instead of here in order to minimize clutter.  So if you want to see more frequent pics and posts from me, then be sure to like my facebook page here:  www.facebook.com/pages/Ex-Shad…
For those loyal to my DA page I promise that I will continue to make posts for new pictures and news, but from now on it likely won't be quite as often as on my Facebook page.  

I greatly appreciate all of the support you guys have given me over the years!  It's kept me going and will continue to do so :)

Hiatus is over! New Year's Resolution

Happy New Year!


Been a few months since I said I'd be taking a break from DA.  I'd been occasionally checking messages but other than that I've been off the radar for a while now, mostly enjoying the lazy gamer life.  

But with a new year comes a fresh start.  I'm ready to get back into the cosplay game and pump out some new stuff that'll blow my old costumes away!  And I also plan to start making tutorials that show my process for making them.  You'll have to bear with me this first month as I get started, but hopefully within the next couple of weeks I will have some progress shots up.  And for any of you out there who are genuinely interested in keeping track of this, be sure to keep me encouraged along the way.

First costume project for 2013 will be Berserker Armor Guts:   Click here for Wiki page   Click here for action figure reference pics
Finish date goal:  Katsucon 2013 (Feb. 15-17)

Second costume project for 2013 will be Megatron from Transformers Prime:   Click here for Wiki page  
Finish date goal:  Acen 2013 (May 17-19)

Finish date goal:  Dragoncon 2013 (Aug. 30-Sept. 2)

Keep in mind that these are goals, not set in stone until I actually manage to finish them.  I may end up having to push some of them back depending on how long each project takes, but if I keep myself busy and don't slack off then I believe these goals can all be reached this year (and afterwards I will likely take on less ambitious projects for a while xD)

Afest and moving


I know I haven't really put up much this summer, and I apologize.  Deviantart has unfortunately fallen low on my priority list lately, and I haven't even been online much at all other than for facebook and emails these last few weeks.  Malinda and I are still working on costumes for Afest in September, and if we want to have plenty of time to pack up for our move then we need to finish them soon.  And I've been really tired lately, probably a combination of work, some small stress here and there, and of course all of this moving business.  It'll all get done, but at the cost of my absence from the internet.  I'm actually going to be cancelling my internet services within the next week or two, so it'll probably be mid September before I make any more updates on this site.  I again apologize for all of you who still keep up with me.  Hopefully you'll be patient and keep an eye out for some new uploads and journals once we're settled in up in Chicago.  Until then, Take care everyone and be sure to enjoy the rest of your summer!
